A fost desemnat castigatorul 2009 al premiului fantasy, David Gemmell Legend Award. Este vorba de Andrzej SAPKOWSKI si a sa carte, „Blood of Elves”.
„The Witcher„ sau „Wiedźmin” (in poloneza) este o colectie de povestiri fantasy adunate in doua volume ( cu exceptia a alte doua texte) si cinci romane, avand in centru figura vrajitorului Geralt of Rivia. In cartile scriitorului vrajitorii sunt vanatori cu o pregatire speciala si cu abilitati supranaturale numai bune de folosit in luptele cu diversi monstri. Romanele au fost adaptate intr-un film, intr-o serie de televiziune, un joc video (nu am jucat, dar am auzit ca este destul de scurt), o serie de banda desenata, etc. Seria romanelor mai poarta numele de „Witcher Saga„ sau „Blood of the Elves Saga„.

Se pare ca marea majoritate a celor prezenti in cadrul ceremoniei se asteptau la o concurenta serioasa intre Abercombrie si Weeks, de ultimul dintre ei auzind si eu numai cuvinte de lauda. Au mai fost prezenti printre altii, Joe Abercrombie, Stephen Deas, Brian Ruckley, Stan Nicholls si Robert Holdstock.
Voturile au fost in jur de 11000 (!!!) cu participanti din nu mai putin de 75 de tari.
